The œuvre of Edmond Jabès, jewish egyptian born in 1912, deals with Judaism and exile.

 

« Serons-nous toujours ce bond et cette chute où le nom s’ouvre au nom qui l’habite ; où la couleur s’ouvre à la couleur et se consume ? / Le vide est plus vide après l’incendie. »

 

Carlos Sanchez-Alamo, who studied, lived and worked in Paris is the only Spanish bookbinder to ever gratuate from the Ecole Estienne. Over the years he has reached great artistic maturity which can be particularly felt in this pure and compelling design binding.

 

Récit d’Edmond Jabès is bound by Carlos Sanchez-Alamo in the Fata Morgana (Montpellier) edition, 1982, 1/60 on vélin pur fil Johannot including an original etching by Jean Degottex, 13 x 23,5 cm. Housed in a cloth solander box. Available for sale. Price on request.
